3 Free Activities to do in Missoula this Summer.

Writer: Nick BallaNick Balla

Summer is upon us and we only have a few months of nice weather, even less depending on when the smoke rolls in, so we need to take advantage of these blue bird days while we can. Whether you’re new to the area or you’ve lived here your whole life, make it a point this summer to get out and experience the culture of Missoula.

Let’s get the most obvious one out of the way, hiking. Within minutes you could be up Mount Sentinel, Mount Jumbo, Blue Mountain, or the hundreds of other trails down Highway 93 in the Bitterroots with some of the most incredible views you can find. Simply pick a direction and go!

Next up we have First Friday and The Farmer’s Markets. Explore downtown, check out the local vendors, and even if you’re looking to save money, you can find some inexpensive gems while supporting those in the community.

From the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to Historic Fort Missoula over to the Missoula Art Museum; there’s something for everyone. Learn about the history of these places that make Missoula the unique place that it is.

Honorable mention: grab a tube and float one of the rivers.

We only scratched the surface so what did we miss? We know you want to keep your favorite trail a secret, so let us know your second favorite trail in the comments below or your favorite museum so others can support them. The point is, Missoula has a lot to offer so get out there and explore.
